US
wants bin Laden `dead or alive`: Bush (Zee News) |
President
George W Bush on Monday said that the United
States wants Saudi-born suspected terror
mastermind Osama bin Laden brought to justice dead
or alive.
Asked during a visit
to the Pentagon, which was hit in last Tuesday`s
terror strikes, whether he wanted bin Laden dead,
bush told reporters: I want justice. There`s an
old poster out west that says, as I recall,
`wanted dead or alive.`
Bush spoke at the
defence headquarters after meeting with defence
secretary Donald Rumsfeld to discuss mobilisation
of US reserves to defend the US homeland.
Cheers erupted in
the hallways as the President emerged from the
meeting.

White
House rejects Afghan ruling on bin
Laden |
The
White House on Thursday rejected the
recommendation by Afghan clerics that Osama
bin Laden voluntarily leave Afghanistan,
saying the key suspect in last week`s
attacks in the United States should be
turned over to responsible authorities.
The clerics
recommended on Thursday that the Saudi exile
leave Afghanistan. An afghan official said
the country`s ruling Taliban movement was
likely to accept their ruling and asked for
new talks with the United States on the
issue.
``It does not
meet America`s requirements,`` White House
spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters.
``This is about much more than one man being
allowed to leave voluntarily, presumably,
from one safe harbor to another safe harbor.
``It is time for action, not words,`` he
added, echoing previous U.S. statements.
``The president has demanded that key
figures of the Al Qaeda terrorist
organization, including Osama bin Laden, be
turned over to responsible authorities and
that the Taliban close terrorist camps in
Afghanistan and the United States stands
behind those demands.``
